The KuLT Press — Privacy Policy

The KuLT Press (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you read, subscribe, comment, or otherwise interact with The KuLT Press (the “Publication”) through Substack and related services (the “Service”).

1) Where this Privacy Policy applies

This policy applies to information collected through The KuLT Press on Substack and any related pages, emails, surveys, or forms we use for the Publication.

Substack (and any other third-party platforms we use) may also collect information independently. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

We collect information in a few ways:

Information you provide

• Email address (when you subscribe or manage your subscription)

• Name and profile details you choose to share (if enabled on the platform)

• Payment-related details if you become a paid subscriber (processed by Substack/payment processors; we do not receive your full card number)

• Comments, replies, and messages you send (including emails you reply with)

• Survey responses or other information you choose to submit

Information collected automatically

• Subscription status (free/paid/founding), renewal/cancellation status

• Email engagement (e.g., opens/clicks), depending on your settings and device/email client behavior

• Basic device and usage data (like IP address, browser type, and approximate location), generally collected by Substack/hosting providers for security and analytics

3) How we use your information

We use your information to:

• deliver posts and updates to your inbox

• provide access to subscriber-only content and archives

• process payments and manage subscriptions (via Substack and payment processors)

• respond to messages and provide support

• understand what readers enjoy (analytics, surveys, and feedback) so we can improve the Publication

• maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our policies

• comply with legal obligations

4) Our legal bases for processing (for readers in certain regions)

Depending on where you live, we process data based on:

• your consent (e.g., subscribing to emails)

• contract necessity (e.g., providing paid subscriber benefits)

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only as needed:

• With Substack and its service providers to operate the newsletter, subscriptions, comments, and delivery infrastructure

• With payment processors to handle paid subscriptions (we don’t store your full payment card details)

• With analytics, email, or survey tools if we use them to understand readership and improve the Publication

• If required by law (e.g., valid legal request) or to protect rights, safety, and security

• In a business transition (rare, but if the Publication is transferred, data may be part of that transfer with appropriate safeguards)

6) Cookies and tracking

• prevent fraud and abuse

• manage subscription settings through your Substack account

8) Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed to:

• provide the Service and maintain the archive/subscription relationship

• comply with legal obligations

• resolve disputes and enforce agreements

• keep the Publication secure

9) Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security—especially for data transmitted over the internet.

10) Children’s privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact inwelynn@gmail.com.

11) International readers

If you access the Publication from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Substack and service providers operate. Data protection laws may differ from those in your location.

12) California privacy notice

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under California privacy laws (including the CCPA/CPRA), such as the right to request access to or deletion of personal information, subject to certain exceptions.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in a way that would be considered a “sale” or “share” under California law (as we understand these terms), but Substack’s tools and third-party cookies may affect how data is used across services.
